Beberapa tahun lalu, Edwin datang ke pemutaran bulanan Minikino di Oktagon membawa film yang ia anggap karya pertamanya, "A Very Slow Breakfast".
Pertemuan pertama Minikino dengan Edwin itu berlanjut ke program-program Minikino selanjutnya, baik di Indonesia maupun di luar Indonesia. Kali ini Minikino mendapat kehormatan untuk mem-premiere karya terbaru Edwin, "Percakapan yang Membosankan", bersamaan dengan premiere film pendek ini di 35th International Film Festival Rotterdam, di mana film pendek ini masuk kompetisi Tiger Cub.
Sebagai seorang filmmaker Indonesia yang antusias dengan format film pendek, Edwin juga banyak terlibat dalam produksi-produksi besar perfilman di Indonesia. Pada tahun 2005, selain sebagai asisten sutradara dalam film Gie (Riri Riza/Miles Production) dan "Untuk Rena" dari Miles Production, satu karya Edwin, "Kara Anak Sebatang Pohon" juga meraih penghargaan Film Pendek Terbaik dari FFI 2005. Film yang sama sempat terpilih untuk diputar di Directors' Fortnight, Cannes Film Festival 2005.
Bulan ini, Minikino menampilkan film-film pendek karya Edwin dan menelusuri perjalanannya - yang masih akan terus berlanjut.

S-Express Indonesia: Faraway Lands adalah bagian dari rangkaian program tahunan S-Express yang merupakan ajang berjalan untuk pertukaran informasi antar pembuat film muda di negara-negara di Asia Tenggara. S-Express diprakarsai oleh Yuni Hadi (Substation, Singapore), Amir Muhammad (Malaysian Shorts), dan Chalida Uabumrungjit (Thai Film Foundation) pada tahun 2002 dan sejak tahun 2004 Minikino ikut serta untuk memprogram bagian film pendek Indonesia. Pada tahun 2005, S-Express mengalami penambahan program, yaitu dari Filipina dan dari Cina. Setelah di-premier di Jakarta International Film Festival, program S-Express Indonesia: Faraway Lands akan berkeliling di Asia Tenggara, di negara-negara di mana jaringan kerja S-Express berada.

Program film bulan November adalah finalis film pendek fiksi terpilih dari 184 film pendek dokumenter dan fiksi yang dilombakan dalam kompetisi film pendek terbesar di Indonesia, yaitu JiFFest Short Film Competition 2004. 19 film terseleksi yang terdiri dari 9 film pendek fiksi dan 10 film pendek dokumenter.

Program bulan ini adalah seleksi beberapa film pendek yang dibuat oleh para filmmaker di Singapore, secara unik membuat sebuah film pendek dalam waktu produksi yang sangat terbatas, selama 48 jam.
Fly By Night Video Challenge adalah sebuah festival kompetisi filmmaking yang diadakan sejak tahun 2003 untuk membangkitkan semangat filmmaking di Singapore. Diprakarsai oleh Yuni Hadi dan Tan Pin Pin, acara ini mendapat dukungan sepenuhnya dari Singapore History Museum, dan disambut dengan antusias oleh para pesertanya sehingga menjadi sebuah event yang selain mempunyai bobot apresiasi dan pendidikan yang serius terhadap masyarakat, juga merupakan sebuah acara akhir minggu yang mengasyikan bagi anak-anak muda Singapore, untuk berkumpul, membuat film pendek, dan kemudian menontonnya bersama-sama dengan penuh canda tawa.
Singapore History Museum mendukung acara ini dengan harapan memberi keyakinan bagi muda-mudi Singapore untuk berekspresi, menceritaka n tentang kehidupan sehari-hari dan lingkungan di sekitar mereka melalui media film.

----- Program film bulan ini mengangkat tema besar tentang gay dan lesbian. Tetapi ketika ditilik lebih jauh, pendekatan semua film-film ini adalah eksperimental. Ada yang bereksperimen dengan warna, ada yang bereksperimen dengan teknik animasi dan kamera dan ada juga yang bereksperimen dengan cerita. Tak satupun dari film ini yang mempertanyakan lagi kebingungan orientasi seksual tetapi lebih kepada eksistensi mereka sebagai seorang homoseksual di lingkungan mereka.
Saya sengaja mengambil film-film dari berbagai negara untuk memperlihatkan bagaimana setiap negara tersebut menyikapi isu homoseksual itu sendiri.

Hafiz Studied Fine Arts in Jakarta Institute of Arts (1990-1994), Hafiz is one of the founders of Ruang Rupa (http://ruangrupa.org) and Forum Lenteng. His works as an artist are frequently exhibited both in and out of Indonesia. At the moment, he makes documentaries for many Indonesian NGOs and work together with documentary filmmakers from other countries.

MINIKINO SHORT FILMS SCREENING & DISCUSSION Mei 2005
A passionate filmmaker, Chui Mui has been an active participant in the Malaysian indie film scene. She has produced and directed a number of short films, some of which have traveled to different festivals including Rotterdam, Manchester, Singapore, Bangkok and Cork. She had also produced Chemman Chaalai, a Malaysian Tamil film.
In July 2004, she conducted a video and film workshop at Interfaces -Special New Media Art Event in Bangkok organized by Raffles La Salle Intl (Bangkok). She has had a hand in many Malaysian critical successes such as Ho Yuhang's Sanctuary (as an editor), which had Special Mention in both Pusan and Rotterdam, and Amir Muhammad's "The Big Durian" which screened in Sundance, Singapore, Amsterdam and Yamagata.
In 2005 her short "A Tree In Tanjung Malim" (Malaysia 2004, 24 minutes) - which will be screened at Jakarta International Film Festival (9-18 December 2005) as part of the S-Express section - won second prize in Oberhausen.

The screening will be divided into two sessions. In the first we will see the videos taken from the 'love is ...' compilation, organized by Videobabes end of last year in Bandung. These are videos made spontaneously by video activists in Bandung, beginners as well as experienced ones. The second session features the works of Videobabes' personnel, Ariani Darmawan, Prilla Tania, and Rani Ravenina.
Through this program, a variety of video works are presented, which in their own forms try to tell a story and lead us to see our lives. For me there is no difference between video art and narrative video works. Seeing them as different would only limit our own perception of new media art and art in general.

Minikino is a group of people who believe that a short movie is a form of art that, like a poem or short story, is a self-contained work of literature. Seizing this idea, Minikino brings a unique selection of short films (and the makers) from around the world to audience in Indonesia and vice versa.
Minikino runs a monthly screening and discussion to provide filmmakers with an opportunity to screen their work to a wider audience. Minikino also provides film festivals both in and out of Indonesia with a unique selection of international or Indonesian short films. At the same time Minikino provides its audience with an opportunity to see and discuss about films they might never get to see otherwise.
At the moment, Minikino screens and discusses at 4 venues in 3 different cities in Indonesia (Denpasar, Jakarta, and Bandung) and programs for many film festivals inside and outside of Indonesia.
